Although it is not always assigned directly, each student should read, read, read! Students can read independently, with a parent, to a brother or sister, to a grandparent, or even to the family pet! Please encourage your 2nd grader to read as much as possible! 15-20 minutes a night (beyond their homework time) is ideal.

 

Research shows that reading at home can greatly improve reading comprehension and fluency. But more importantly, reading should be for FUN and ENJOYMENT! Give your child the chance to read at home so that he/she will learn to love reading.
